Let me start off by saying that the whole purpose behind the creation of the character Ayeka was to convince all of you Tenchi fans to stay away from the dubbed Tenchi Muyo versions. Listen to Ayeka's voice on any Tenchi Muyo dub and what you will hear will not be the demure speech of a purported Jurai noble. In its place is the Chipmunks-style, horribly voice-acted diction of a less than prim and proper princess. I suppose it's a by-product of countless scuffles with a space pirate over a poor highschool student =)
Ayeka makes her first appearance in the OVA series when she strategically crash-lands her ship in front of Tenchi's house. She claims to be hot on the trail of her long-lost half-brother Yosho, but we all know the real reason why she's on Earth =) Is it any surprise when we find out that the Ayeka becomes as attracted to Tenchi as cats are to Purina Cat Chow? Or that the Jurai princess is willing to use any means necessary to prevent her rival, Ryoko, from gaining the inside track with the beleaguered anime hero? I think not.
Although she can be a royal pain in the buttocks, Ayeka possesses no shortage of inner strength or compassion. Furthermore, beneath the sinister facade of her Jurai royalty lies a hidden agenda: to live in bliss and harmony on Jurai with Tenchi by her side.
